The new year!
I can't believe today is the last day of 2012! My personal new goals are to take more pictures, do more things with my pictures and eat more fruits and veggies. My new goals as a teacher this year is to use more technology in my room, write on this blog way more often and start creating my own classroom materials. My goals as a mom to my two boys this year is to make them healthier eaters, find more time to play with them and of course take more pics of them.
What are your new goals for 2013??

What a busy day!!
My day started off with killing 17 flies!! Yes 17! I had killed 10 flies before the kids came into the room and 7 flies while I was teaching reading!
We did a small unit all about bats this week and today we finished up the last part. A bat can eat up to 600 Mosquitos in one hour. So I put my kids into groups of three and they had to cut out 100 Mosquitos and glue them onto a paper plate. Each group worked as a team and had to try to find the fastest way to cut and glue them.
All of the teachers are decorating their classroom doors for Halloween. They are all looking so good! So I made mine into my favorite Halloween song, The purple people eater!! My students all made people eaters too!
After that we made monster glyphs for our hallways. We listened the monster mash and purple people eaters all afternoon while working hard on our monsters.
I have pictures of all of these projects but I am still trying to figure out how to add my pictures to my post!

Back To School
So I really thought I was going to blog all summer long, but instead I did one blog posting then I blinked and Summer was over! Since it went by so fast that means I was having a blast! This summer was great! Having a 3 1/2 year old and an almost 2 year meant a very fun summer! We went to the zoo, grants farm, bounce u (a million times), swimming, the magic house, the library, the gym (they go to the kids club there), and play dates at friends houses. We went to the Lake for a mini vacation and ended summer with our big vacation. We went to Santa Claus Indiana which was the coolest small town we have ever went to. Then we left there and went to the Smokey Mountains. We had so much fun!
Then when we got back I had to get busy in my classroom. I switched schools this year (by choose) but stayed in first grade. I was able to make my room look super cute just in time to meet my parents and new students!
We have been in school for 7 days now and finally getting into a routine! I have a few stinkers but for the most part its going to be a great class! I do have 13 boys and only 6 girls!! I have never been so boy heavy before!! I am so glad that I switched schools! I am really enjoying the change of scenery at the new school!
Has anyone ever had a class that had so many boys before? If so how did it go? Please let me know if you have any tips for me!

Summer has begun!
Summer has officially started for me last Friday because I teach summer school for 18 days every summer. This years summer school wasn't horrible like it usually is. I took my oldest son to Six Flags yesterday, it was his first time ever going and my first time in 7 years. They have really improved the park since I have been there.
Now that summer school is over I now start planning for next year. I am changing schools but staying first grade. So today I went and took pictures and measurements of my new room so I can start planning and moving in next week.
I also have been reading The Daily 5 and CAFE books. I am so excited to say I am going to also be starting those programs next year too! This is going to be a busy summer!
